MTN Ghana Fully Funds Blood Donation Exercise, Free Health Screening, Others Marking ARCC’s Ashantifest:

Mobile telecommunications giant, MTN Ghana has fully funded some activities marking the ongoing Ashantifest 2025.

They are kids festival, music festival, health screening and blood donation exercise.

The 15-day festival is a programme coined by the Ashanti regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) and spearheaded by Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti regional Minister.

It mirrors a flagship initiative of the Telco giant dubbed “MTN Ashantifest”; an annual and week-long event which was rolled out in 2011.

ARCC’s version is focused at promoting the rich culture of Asanteman and by extension, the Ashanti region whereas MTN’s is aimed at celebrating the community spirit of Asanteman, bringing together neighbourhoods across the region.

Ashantifest is a vital part of MTN’s community engagement efforts.

It features various life-enhancing initiatives, including community improvement projects, sports events, and entertainment, showcasing MTN’s commitment to supporting and enriching the communities it serves.

ARCC’s Ashantifest 2025

On Thursday, 17th April 2025, a blood donation and health screening exercise sponsored by MTN Ghana was held at the forecourt of the Kumasi Central Prisons.

It was done in collaboration with the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Gracing the event, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to improving conditions at the prison.

He disclosed strategic plans to decongest the correctional facility, including facilitating a presidential amnesty and possibly relocating the prison to a more suitable location.

The Minister also highlighted recent upgrades to the prison’s health center, supported by his office.

He called on the public and stakeholders to collaborate with the Ghana Prisons Service, particularly in expanding skill development and rehabilitation programs.

The Regional Commander of the Ghana Prisons Service, DDP Ing. James B. Mwinyelle, also encouraged the public to support the reintegration of former inmates, emphasizing second chances and societal healing.
